FAQ

Are you on other social media platforms

I used to be everywhere! Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, the works. Still, between the advertisement schemes, scandals, platform decay, and the general unpleasantness of the dominant communities, they have become rather unattractive. I still have a Discord account, and I lurk in some small subreddits. However, I have moved to host my own community at this point.

What song would you use as a theme song

AC/DC's "Thunderstruck." That power opening is the epitome of entrances, perfect for heralding anything.

Are there any internet celebrities you follow

Douglas "DougDoug" Wrenden. He is a master at promoting community engagement and incorporating it into his videos. Also, our website design was loosly inspired by his.

What is your favorite book?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Mark may go on for hours on how "influential" Tolkein was on the last half-century or so, but this series took that base and redefined it for the modern century, creating an adventure format that is still being replicated (often poorly) to this day. For all its faults (S.P.E.W., Slytherin, muggles, math), the storytelling of the series is rarely rivaled.

I am still annoyed at the widespread spoilers for the next two books, though.

How about movie?

Not Harry Potter, that's for sure! I would probably go with James Cameron's Aliens. Compared to the first one, the sequel gives Ripley a cast of characters who can match her competence, and a way to truly fight back against the xenomorphs rather than just escape. Plus, Newt.

So, you run a Minecraft server, but do you like any other games?

Halo 3, all the way. It is the perfect combination of epic story campaign, engaging enemy AI, and multiplayer action. It combines the lessons of Quake, Unreal, Half Life, and previous Halo games to make the perfect shooter.

I do get why Pirate likes Quake, though. There is a beautiful simplicity to it, where almost every gun has a unique purpose, the enemies are well defined and diverse, and the levels encourage a lot of exploring. Plus, sprinting at 20 miles per hour is a lot of fun.

DOOM Deathmatch: You, the Pirate, and Mark, Free-For-All. Who is winning?

Me, obviously.
