FAQ
Where can you be found on social media?
I was never really on social media much. I did get banned from Facebook for doing nothing with my account for six months after making it. Beyond that, I have a few accounts on Stack Exchange and some independant tech forums.
What would you use as your theme song?
I think that the anthem of Christians in general would be John Newton's Amazing Grace. Written by a reformed slaver trader infamous for his vulgarity and wild behavior, it speaks of God's grace in giving a lost "wretch" a new purpose in life any beyond. It is more or less the book of Romans in song form.
If I were to go more personal, I would probably say Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel (although I prefer Disturbed's cover). It, as well as my other choice, U2 and Johnny Cash's The Wanderer, describe the speaker as a lone seeker of truth in a world that has followed consumerist sensuality to its dark extreme, marked by isolation and inagency as they have completly rejected God in favor of their own agendas. That idea of end-times (also depicted by Camazotz in Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time) rather facinates me.
Plus, Kāru demonstrated that an orchestral cover of the first can be done for the purposes of a leitmotif, even if this early work of his is flawed.
So, that is a hymn and two alternate rock songs. What style do you consistently listen to?
I listen to a lot of genres, but my favorite band would be Third Day. Part of explosion of Christian Rock in the nineteen-nineties, Mac Powell's voice and the wide variety of themes give listeners a wide variety of topics to ponder.
Do you follow any internet celebreties
Would radio celebrities count? I would have to say C.S. Lewis. His radio talks on BBC (which would later go on to form his book Mere Christianity) serves as a comprehensive summary of Christianity, and was very influential for me as a young adult.
Do you like movies?
Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. While they do have some problems compared to the books (Gondor's leaders), it nevertheless captures the themes and spirit of the book, while giving it a truley cinematic presentation worthy of the silver screen. I would argue that it is one of the greatest adaptions of a book Hollywood has produced.
Do you have a comfort show you like to put on?
My choice would probably be Star Trek: The Next Generation. It is very humanist, but I appreciate the general optimism of the show's themes.
Do you play videogames at all?
My favorite would probably be Tobey Fox's Undertale. It explores very Christian themes of love and community that very few games are able to even touch.
DOOM Deathmatch: You, the Pirate, and Mark, Free-For-All. Who is winning?
I would have the advantage.
